Keeping Your World Passages floor beautiful.

Hardwood flooring can last for generations if you can avoid the things that damage it. Here are wood’s three most common enemies.  The first is prolonged exposure to water or other liquids. The second is dirt and grit that can damage the surface over time. The third is abuse from things such as heavy dropped objects, pets, shoes with cleats, moving furniture and appliances. To resist these and other sources of damage, we offer a few simple do’s and don’ts. Please see our Residential Maintenance Care and Warranty Guide for more details.       

Do’s.
Keep your floor clean and free of dirt and debris by using door mats and sweeping regularly with a broom, dust mop or vacuum. Use soft vacuum brush heads only – no beater bars.  Clean spills quickly using a cloth moistened with our Clear Lake Living Cleaner, or any other wood cleaner recommended by your retailer. Place area rugs in high trafficareas and areas particularly exposed to pets, spills and moisture (e.g. in front of sinks and stoves). Apply protective pads to the legs of all heavy or moving furniture, available at your floor retailer. Do protect your floor with a solid board of some kind before moving heavy appliances or furniture acrossit.       

Don’ts.
Never wet mop or flood your floor with water or other liquids. Do not use any non-recommended cleaning products such as vinegar, detergent, bleach or ammonia. Don’t use door mats and areas rugs that have rubber or vinyl backs.  Mats need to “breath” to keep from trapping moisture.  Don’t allow people to wear damaging footwear such as stiletto heels or soccer cleats.

Sunlight:
Wood floors, like fabrics, can and do change shade over time with exposure to sunlight. While this is a natural process, you may want to protect areas consistently exposed to strong sunlight by using curtains, blinds or UV resistant film on windows and doors.

For all World Passages floors we guarantee that for 25 years:

• Your floor will be free of manufacturing defects
• And that under normal household conditions:
      -  The finish on your floor will not wear through or separate from the flooring
      -  Clear Lake installation adhesives will maintain their bond with the subfloor

Lifetime Limited Residential Warranty

For all floors featuring our ClearShield™ wearlayer, the wear warranty is extended from 25 years to as long as you own your floor.
